May 12 & 13

May 13:  Today is cloudy again with altostratus clouds.  It is also chillier today at 54 degrees with winds coming from the N at 10mph!  I will not be doing a prediction today as it is my last blog entry for the semester!  I wish everyone the best!  :)

May 12:  Sorry I am updating so late!  I tried to update last night, but the site was down!  Any way, my prediction was right.  Yesterday was warm at 74 degrees, but it was cloudy and there were some spotty rain showers.

May 11

My prediction from yesterday was partially right!  We did have a thunderstorm earlier this morning around 10am.  Right now though it is bright and sunny out with some cirrostratus clouds blanketing the sky.  It is also 75 degrees out with no wind as the center of the low pressure is right over us.  I was happily prepared for the warm temperature today, unlike yesterday, and have on shorts!  However, this nicer weather will lapse into storms again as they sweep in from the southwest later on today.

On a side note, you probably noticed a new tab at the top of my blog titled, "Data Analysis."  This tab will soon contain weather data, graphs, and companion analyses from the course of the semester.  So if you want to see the weather trends, the tab will be chock full sometime tonight!

May 10

My prediction from yesterday was so wrong!  It was GORGEOUS out today!!  It was clear skies with some cirrus clouds for the majority of today.  There was a light wind from the SE at 5mph and it also go up to 79 degrees!  79!!! I was completely unprepared for such warmth and should have worn shorts!  I know everyone would love to see this weather continue, but it looks as if tomorrow might have rain and storms coming in from the NW... hopefully I will be wrong like I was for today!!

May 9

My prediction from yesterday was right!  Today started off rainy and stormy!  There was thunder, lightning, and pouring rain for several hours this morning.  Around 12/1pm it began to clear out though and the day brightened.  It also got up up to about 58 degrees when the storm left.  The winds also changed to coming out of the NE.  I think tomorrow will be rainy again and possibly even stormy as more precipitation from the west comes our way.

May 8

My prediction from yesterday was not quite right.  The weather was not as beautiful as yesterday.  It was actually cloudy all day with stratus clouds and winds out of the SE that picked up intensity at 13mph.  However, it was still warm today at about 69 degrees.  I think tomorrow will be rainy as that low pressure swings through!

May 7

My prediction from yesterday was delightfully wrong!  No rain!  It was a gorgeous day today!  Clear skies with a few cumulus clouds, 70 degrees, and just a light wind from the E.  I think tomorrow will be just as lovely as today!

Friday, May 6, 2011

May 6

My prediction from yesterday was right!  It was a beautiful sunny day today with some cumulus clouds passing by.  It got up to about 66 degrees with a 5mph wind from the NW.  I think tomorrow will be cloudy and possibly wet as low pressure from the west moves in.

May 4 & 5

May 5:  Today is cloudy/overcast with cumulus and stratocumulus clouds, and there has been some random precipitation.  It is 56 degrees right now with a 13mph S wind.  I think tomorrow will be warmer and we'll see the return of sunny skies as high pressure settles in after this low pressure and cold front goes through.

May 4:  My predication from the day before was right!  It was lovely weather, clear skies with just a few cirrus clouds, 63 degrees, and a light wind.

Wednesday, May 4, 2011

May 3

My prediction from yesterday was right!  Today started out with some altocumulus clouds and then changed over to fair weather cumulus clouds with lots of sunshine!  It got up to about 56 degrees today and there was just a light N wind.  This nice weather was due to a high pressure system over us and it will last into tomorrow as well!

May 2

My prediction from yesterday was right.  Today was still cloudy and chilly at 39 degrees with a light NW wind.  There were even some random snowflakes to be seen!  Talk about nuts!  Thank goodness tomorrow looks like it will be sunny, clear, and much warmer due the high pressure over us.

May 1

Happy May to everyone!  My time has flown by, has it not?  Any way, today doesn't seem much like May as my hopeful prediction from yesterday was wrong.  It is unfortunately cloudy with altostratus clouds, it is 39 degrees out but feels like 29 degrees with a strong 21mph WSW wind (gusting up to 35mph).  I think tomorrow will be cloudy still as the stationary front to our west moves through.

April 30

My prediction from yesterday was right.  The low pressure system to our west came swinging over and has brought stratus and nimbostratus clouds and some more lovely rain...  It is currently 48 degrees (got up to 56 degrees) out with a 16mph W wind.  I think tomorrow the sky will be clear, sunny, and warmer as the low pressure system moves out and high pressure settles in.

Friday, April 29, 2011

April 29

My prediction from yesterday was right!  It was a clear sunny day today with the temperature getting up to 65 degrees today with a wind increasing in strength from the SE at 15mph.  The clouds have also been increasing and are now a nice blanket of cirrostratus clouds.  I think tomorrow will be unfortunately rainy as that low pressure to our west comes through and brings clouds and precipitation.

April 28

My prediction from yesterday was pretty much right.  Today was still overcast with stratus clouds (with minor precipitation) and 52 degrees with a NW wind at 10mph.  The rain was lighter if falling at all and now it seems as though all the clouds will clear out at last as the high pressure finally settles in!

April 27

My prediction from yesterday was right!  Today was only 43 degrees, overcast stratus clouds with random light on and off rain throughout the day, and had a 10mph NW wind.  I think tomorrow will clear out the scraggling rain behind the moving away low pressure system and then all will be clear, sunny, and warmer as the high pressure settles in!

Wednesday, April 27, 2011

April 26

My prediction from yesterday was right!  It was 55 degrees, overcast stratus clouds producing rain all day with E/SE winds around 10mph.  I think tomorrow will be cooler as that low pressure to the NE of us will bring down colder air.  It will probably been rainy again as the low continues to give us precipitation.

Monday, April 25, 2011

April 25

My prediction from yesterday was right!  It got up to about 62 degrees today with 12mph E winds and increasing altostratus overcast clouds.  I think tomorrow will be rainy as the precipitation from the south moves over us.

Sunday, April 24, 2011

Aprl 24

My prediction from yesterday was right.  It was 62 degrees outside with some cumulus clouds and a light 5mph SW wind.  It was refreshingly nice out compared to the last few days!  I think tomorrow will be the same nice weather!  Yay!

Saturday, April 23, 2011

April 22 & 23

April 23:  Today was overcast, stratus clouds, all day.  It did not rain however.  It was just 53 degrees with winds from the E.  I think tomorrow the skies will finally be clear, sunny, and warmer as a high pressure system settles in.  At last!

April 22:  My prediction from the day before was right!  It was cooler, 47 degrees, overcast and rainy.

Friday, April 22, 2011

April 21

My prediction from yesterday was partially right.  It was warmer at 50 degrees, but it was overcast all day with cirro/altostratus clouds.  There was a wind from the E and later the SE at about 10mph.  I think tomorrow will be cooler and wet as that Colorado Low from the west tracks our way!

Wednesday, April 20, 2011

April 20

My prediction from yesterday was right!  It is currently overcast with pretty much no wind, 35 degrees, and... SNOWY (thank goodness most of it is melting on contact)!  I think tomorrow should be clear, sunny, and warmer at last though as this system moves on and high pressure settles in.

Tuesday, April 19, 2011

April 19

My prediction from yesterday was right!  It started out as just an overcast day, but now it's overcast and snowing!!  It got up to around 44 degrees today, but it's now 38 degrees, feeling like 30 degrees with that 15mph ESE wind... brrr!  I think tonight will continue to be snowy and tomorrow will be also be snowy/rainy as the moisture continues to pump in from the south.  It will also still be chilly as the cold air spills in from the north due to the high pressure and low pressure systems both drawing air from up there.

Monday, April 18, 2011

April 18

My prediction from yesterday was right, except for that it got cloudier as the day went on today.  It started out fairly clear then altostratus clouds came in.  It was also 51 degrees today with a 5mph E wind, now a NE wind.  I think tomorrow will be rainy/snowy due to all the precip to the south!  Look out Eau Claire!

Sunday, April 17, 2011

April 17

My prediction from yesterday was right!  It was warmer at about 48 degrees with just a light 5mph wind from the NE.  There were also some cirrus clouds out and about today.  I think tomorrow will be sunny and much the same as today as the cold front passing through will keep the precipitation to the south.

April 16

My prediction from yesterday was right.  It was a cold 39 degrees with winds at 15mph making it feel even colder!  It was also overcast all day with altostratus/stratus clouds.  Also, last night it snowed!!  It was too warm for it to last too long though and it melted.  It was really a combination of rain and snow.  I think tomorrow will be clear and warmer as the low finally moved on and a high pressure system steps in.

Friday, April 15, 2011

April 15

My prediction from yesterday was half right.  It is a chilly 46 degrees out with E winds at 25mph making it feel like 38 degrees.  It is also completely overcast with altostratus clouds.  It hasn't rained yet, but it looks to be coming from the S sometime soon, so watch out for that!!  I think tomorrow will be much like today.

April 14

My prediction from yesterday was not right.  There was no significant precip last night.  There were stratus clouds (overcast) all day today, but only a few droplets of rain fell sporadically.  It was only 49 degrees today (brr!) and the wind was a brisk E wind at about 15mph.  I think tomorrow will be chilly again and rainy as the low pressure system passes by.

Wednesday, April 13, 2011

April 13

My prediction from yesterday has so far gone according to plan.  However, the precipitation I said that would occur from the cold front passing through did not happen.  It's cooler out (60 degrees) than yesterday and clear out except for some cirrocumulus clouds.  The wind is also coming out of the NW at about 6mph.  Stayed tuned for rain later!

April 12

My prediction from yesterday was right.  It was 66 degrees, bright and sunny with cirrostratus clouds, and a light SW wind.  I think tomorrow will be rainy and cooler as the cold front passes through.

Tuesday, April 12, 2011

April 11

My prediction from yesterday was only partially right.  Today was cooler (63 degrees) with scattered cumulus humilis clouds and a wind out of the NW at about 10mph.  I think tomorrow will be the same as today as the high pressure system sticks around and keeps skies clear.

Monday, April 11, 2011

April 10

My prediction from yesterday was right!  It was stormy last night and into the early morning hours of today.  It kind of caught me off guard, but I was still excited, when lightning and thunder came through!  It didn't rain much today, but it did get up to about a humid 77 degrees with strong W winds at about 20 mph, gusting to about 30mph.  Also, it was completely overcast all day with stratocumulus clouds.  I think tomorrow will be clear, but cooler as there are no clouds for insulation and as the wind comes out of the N.

Saturday, April 9, 2011

April 9

My prediction from yesterday was pretty much right.  It got up to about 60 degrees today (lower than predicted).  It was bright out, but there was a consistent layer of clouds, probably cirrostratus.  There was also a wind from the E/SE at about 10mph all day.  I think tonight and tomorrow will be stormy as a cold front from the W and a warm front from the S comes in.

April 8

My prediction from yesterday was right!  Today was just as lovely as yesterday!  It got up to 64 degrees, bright sun, few cirrus clouds, and a wind out of the SE at around 10mph.  I think tomorrow will be the same again as the high pressure still manages to press in from the E.

Thursday, April 7, 2011

April 7

My prediction from yesterday was right!  Today was a beautiful day!  It got up to 62 degrees today!  There were clear skies except for some cirrus clouds.  However, it started clouding up as the day went which is why it's still 50 degrees out (insulation)!  Also, the wind has been coming out of the S all day varying between 5-10mph.  I think tomorrow will be pretty much the same nice weather again because I think those showers to the west of us will stay out there.

April 6

My prediction from yesterday was not right.  It was warmer (56 degrees), sunnier (no clouds first and then some cumulus humilis later), and there was no precipitation!  There was also pretty much no wind today!  It was overall a pleasant day in Eau Claire!  I think tomorrow will be the same as it was today as the high pressure sticks around!

April 4 & 5

April 5:  Today got up to about 51 degrees and was clear and sunny out with a wind from the SW at about 9mph.  However, as the day went on clouds began to float in.  I think tomorrow will be about the same temperature because of the cloud cover and precipitation will come in from the S.

April 4:  My prediction from yesterday was right!  It was rainy and overcast.  It was also about 47 degrees and incredibly windy with winds over 15mph!

Sunday, April 3, 2011

April 2 & 3

April 3:  Today started out as overcast as some rain went through, but now the clouds are lightening up and it's brighter out.  The temperature is about 43 degrees, but feels like 36 degrees because of the 15mph SE wind.  There looks to be some precip coming again later tonight and I think tomorrow will be rainy and overcast as well as all that precip to the west of us sweeps through.

April 2:  My prediction from the day before was right!  It was sunny and warm at about 48 degrees!

Friday, April 1, 2011

April 1

My prediction from yesterday was right!  As the low pressure system moved in, there were cloudy, overcast skies with snow earlier in the day that turned to sleet and ultimately died out with some light rain.  Right now, there are winds from the NW at 10mph and it still overcast, but not as dark of an overcast.  Also, the temperature right now is about 36 degrees (feels like 29).  I think tomorrow will be sunny and warmer as the low pressure leaves us behind!

March 31

My prediction from yesterday was not quite right.  It got up to about 47 degrees (warmer than the other days), the wind was pretty calm all day, and the sky started off as overcast, but the clouds broke up later and became a mix of several different typed like cirrus and cumulus.  The high pressure system has finally moved on and a low pressure system is moving through, bringing precipitation with it.  I think tomorrow will be cooler, cloudier, and rainy with possibilities of some snow.

March 30

My prediction from yesterday was right!  Today was again sunny, cloudless, and windless!  The only thing different about today was that it was warmer than all the other similar weather days.  It got up to about 42 degrees!  This weather is still due to a high pressure system that has stuck around for several days.  I think tomorrow will be again the same weather, but this time the high pressure will be moving on at last.

Wednesday, March 30, 2011

March 29

My prediction from yesterday was right.  Once again, the weather was the same as it has been for several days now.  The temperature was 39 degrees (a little warmer, but about the same), clear skies until later when some cirrostratus clouds came in, and the wind was calm for the most part with maybe some wisps floating in from the NE.  I think tomorrow will again be the same weather as the previous days as the high pressure continues to stick around!

March 28

Hello everyone!  I'm back in Eau Claire and will be continuing my weather updates from here!

My prediction from yesterday was pretty much right (even though I am now 90 miles east of where I was)!  The temperature is about 34 degrees out, sunny, cloudless, and no wind!  This is still to a high pressure system that is just sticking around.  However, it is giving us the chilly temperatures as it brings down cold northern air.  I think tomorrow will again be the same again as it seems as though that high pressure wants to stick around.

Sunday, March 27, 2011

March 26 & 27

March 27:  Today is 31 degrees, sunny, and mostly clear except for some cumulus clouds scattered about the sky.  There is also a light E wind at about 6mph (stable skies).  All of this weather is due to a high pressure system right over us.  I think tomorrow will be the same weather again as that high pressure sticks around even longer!

March 26:  My prediction was right!  The weather was the same as it was the day before:  31 degrees, sunny, and clear!

Saturday, March 26, 2011

March 24 & 25

March 25:  Sorry this is a bit late... it was my birthday today so I was quite busy!  Any way, today was sunny and about 31 degrees with hardly a cloud in the sky (just some cirrus)!  There a breeze out of the E at about 7mph right now and it was much the same all day today.  All of this is due to a high pressure system sitting right over us.  I think tomorrow will be just about the same as today as that high pressure sticks around.

March 24:  My prediction from yesterday was not quite right.  It was about the same temperature as the day before (32 degrees).  It was sunny, which was a nice change up from cloudy and snowy!

Wednesday, March 23, 2011

March 23

My prediction from yesterday was right!  There was a good amount of snow that fell last night and today (about 5 inches).  Just when things were starting to warm up and melt, it dumped some more snow on us!  Any way, it got up to about 30 degrees with some strong winds from the NE (right now they are about 10mph).  I think tomorrow will be clear out, colder, and no precipitation (all due to a high pressure system to our north).

Tuesday, March 22, 2011

March 22

My prediction from yesterday was partially right.  It is definitely colder today (35 degrees)!  A high pressure system didn't dip down though.  Low pressure systems are pushing up from the south, bringing lots of moisture with them.  The low pressure systems are both bringing cold air from the north and moisture from the south.  This had led to rain off and on all day as well as high overcast skies.  There has also been high winds from the E today at 22-29mph!!  As time progresses, it should snow later tonight and tomorrow!  (And we all thought spring was here!)

Monday, March 21, 2011

March 21

My prediction from yesterday was partially right.  It was the same temperature (51 degrees) as yesterday (not cooler), but it was sunnier!  It's cloudy now, but it was sunnier earlier and the clouds are definitely lighter than yesterday.  The wind was from the E today around 8mph, which means stable weather (from the high pressure system to the north).  I think tomorrow will be colder as the high pressure system dips south and brings colder air with it.  i think it will still be cloudy though as pressure systems collide.

Sunday, March 20, 2011

March 20

My prediction from yesterday was not quite right.  There was definitely some precipitation in the form of rain today, but it was about the same temperature, (51 degrees).  This warmth was due to the overcast skies that dominated the weather all day.  And also due to the low clouds (plus almost no wind), there was a spectacular amount of evaporation fog as the snow melted from the rain and warm temperature.  I think tomorrow will be cooler and sunnier as the low pressure system passes.

Saturday, March 19, 2011

March 19

My prediction from yesterday was pretty accurate!  It was clear, sunny, and about 51 degrees today!  There were strong winds earlier and they are about 10mph from the SE now due to the high pressure system moving to the east.  I think tomorrow will be cooler and have some precipitation as western low pressure systems move through.
